HAMILTON, ON - From October 26 to November 8, 2016, a group of 16 church members and community friends will embark on a humanitarian mission adventure to Velille, Peru.

This town, located 12,000 feet above sea-level, has a population of 8,000 people but is only serviced by two schools. The school our team will be working at is funded entirely by donation and tuition fees; there is no government support. Yet this little school is having a tremendous impact on its students and community as evidenced by their increase in enrollment, from 55 to 192 over the last year. The facility has been outgrown and is in desperate need of upgrades.

The village mayor is so excited for this humanitarian effort that he is providing free lodging for all the volunteers. Nothing of this nature has ever happened in Velille and our expectation is that it will impact every family in a positive way. The whole village is already rallying behind our project and, under the direction of a local foreman, they are completing preliminary labour in order for us to do the following:

Provide them with new bathrooms (they currently have only two “squatting stations”)

  • Refurbish classrooms/kitchen

  • Add an extension for a classroom/computer lab

  • Any incidentals that the team notices while there

We thank you for your financial support and prayers!

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
