The Shape of Things to Come

October 18, 2017

With much of the footings in place, you can really start to see the outline of our floor plan.

Last week’s rain caused more headaches than originally thought. Some of the footing ditches are still flooded, and an awful cakey mud is everywhere, slowing down the workers’ progress. In a little over a week’s time, Rankin will be back to lay some gravel on site, which will definitely help keep the worksite clean.

As you can see in the pictures below, blocks are now being laid, and the walls are taking shape!

The auditorium stage footing ditches are flooded. Water must be pumped out before the footings can be poured.

The spine: Our fancy name for the foyer. It runs the whole length of the building.

The rain has created awful conditions to work in, with thick mud caking the workers’ boots

Mortar-making station: We don’t mess around!

Foundations: Footings are still being poured because of rain delay

Blocking has begun
