On Thursday, July 12, our Really Living Board approved an ad-hoc selection team’s recommendation for filling the vacancy resulting from Pastor Daniel’s imminent departure.
Two candidates were interviewed for the posting. Due to the unique strengths that each individual brought to the table, after prayer and consideration it was decided that our initial posting would be modified so that both candidates could be extended an offer of employment. Subsequently, each has accepted their respective positions and we are pleased to announce their hiring.
Serving in a part-time capacity as Children’s Ministry Coordinator (responsible for Kidzone and Nursery) will be our very own Nadia Ferreira. Nadia brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to this role. In her home country of Brazil, Nadia earned a Bachelor of Education degree and served as a teacher for many years. Since coming to Canada Nadia has additionally completed Early Childhood Education certification. Nadia has been actively involved in many forms of children’s ministry throughout her life and has undertaken numerous leadership training opportunities in the field. In the time that Nadia, her husband Tiago, and their three sons have been part of our Really Living church family, she has exhibited a genuine passion for the mission and core values of our church. We are inspired continually by her willing and enthusiastic involvement, her humility and love for Christ, and her positive support and encouragement of our leaders.
Serving as our new Youth Pastor and Community Services Coordinator will be Benton Lowe. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Burman University in 2014 (then Canadian University College), Pastor Benton has served the Adventist church in a unique and adventurous role in Nunavut, as a pastor, Bible teacher, and outreach/social worker, labouring to make inroads in an at-risk community. Through his time in this frontier ministry, Benton has been involved in such roles as crisis prevention/intervention, suicide counseling, criminal rehabilitation, and leadership of small groups, to name a few. His past experience includes various summer camp postings, coordinating youth events, and professional acting and puppetry performance. He comes highly recommended to us from all with whom we have spoken.
Pastor Benton Lowe and his wife, Ingride
Pastor Benton and his wife, Ingride, were just in the process of transitioning to Ontario for a new chapter in their lives when he became aware of and applied for our vacancy. We are happy that God’s timing is always the best timing, and look forward to welcoming this dynamic couple into our church family.
The anticipated start date for both positions is August 1.
