November 10, 2016
From October 26 to November 8, 2016, a group of 16 church and community members participated in a humanitarian mission adventure to Velille, Peru.
This town, located 12,000 feet above sea-level, has a population of 4,000 people but is only serviced by two schools. The school our team worked at is funded entirely by donation and tuition fees; there is no government support. Yet this little school is having a tremendous impact on its students and community as evidenced by their increase in enrollment, from 55 to 192 over the last year. The facility had been outgrown and was in desperate need of upgrades.
Some of the tasks the team was able to accomplish included providing the school with new bathrooms and adding an extension for a classroom/computer lab.
