Where we've been.

Where we're going.

Our Beginnings

Living Word Christian Fellowship began organizing in 2000 as an intentional church plant of Hamilton Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church. At that time 20 adult members who felt called to be a part of the new vision formed the church planting core team. This new group explored and eventually settled on the cell church model (small groups) as their foundational structure.

Living Word’s inaugural service was held January 20, 2001. By January 2004, the company of believers was officially granted church status and became the first Seventh-day Adventist cell-based church in North America.

As the church grew and activities expanded, the limitations of renting a worship facility became more problematic. By 2007 church leadership expressed interest in a 15.7 hectare (39 acre) undeveloped property at the southwest corner of Upper James and Twenty Road. Preliminary plans began developing for construction of “The Really Living Centre” — a place where the church could not only worship, but could also offer training opportunities and community services to the people of Hamilton and beyond. Purchase of the Upper James property was finalized in August of 2011.

In the fall of 2016, in anticipation of the Really Living Centre nearing construction, Living Word Christian Fellowship rebranded with a new logo and name, as Really Living Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Small groups continue to play an important role in our church experience. We also desire to bolster corporate and individual commitment to prayer among our members.

Our current thrust is on developing engaging and relevant community service programs that will help us show Christ’s love in tangible ways to our neighbours and friends in Hamilton and beyond.

Our hope and prayer is that we may faithfully and humbly submit to God’s leading as we endeavour to make Really Living a place of hope and wholeness for all within its reach.

Our Mission

Embracing our community with the Adventist message of hope and wholeness.

Our Vision

We will be a Christ-focused centre for teaching and healing of mind, body, and soul.

Our Motto

A place of hope and wholeness

Our Core Values

We rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, are committed to Biblical truths, and believe in perseverance in prayer.

We endeavour to provide an atmosphere where everyone can experience the presence of God through praise, worship, and the spoken word that is passionate, relevant, organic, and participatory.

We will make a difference in our community, corporately and individually, by seeking out and creatively meeting the needs of those around us, and by creating networks with those who help others.

Through small groups we foster deeper relationships, mentor and support one another, encourage transparency, facilitate spiritual growth, and reach out to the needs of our community.

Really living is only possible when mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with God’s Biblical principles. We will foster an environment of learning and support for all who seek it.

We love having fun together, and enjoy each other’s company. We desire to make all feel welcome, accepted, appreciated, and loved.
